What to Do in Denver This Weekend!

May 23, 2020

Sharing is caring!

Denver, Colorado, is perhaps best known for ski resorts and outdoor activities in and around the nearby Rocky Mountains. If skiing is not to your liking, however, there are many other stunning attractions and lots to see and do in this gorgeous all-American city!

Before planning a trip to Denver, you might note some area attractions you’re sure to love. These activities will keep you busy both indoors and out, and are a perfect fit for everyone in the family. Check out some great things to do in Denver this weekend!

Denver Downtown Aquarium

The Denver Downtown Aquarium provides lots of indoor entertainment for the entire family! The aquarium features underwater exhibits including a mermaid show, and also provides a small zoo featuring other animals as well! There is an onsite eatery so you can spend the entire day inside this amazing attraction, getting to know lots of colorful fish and sea life.

Water World

When the weather gets warm and you need a good way to cool off, visit Water World! Sitting on some 67 acres, Water World offers two water slides and lots of pool space for lounging and relaxing. There are also multi-guest inflatable raft rides, tube rides, and two wave pools designed for fun and excitement. Spend the way at Water World and you’ll never get bored with all there is to do in the water and poolside.

The Colorado State Capital

Whether you’re a history buff or just enjoy learning how local government works, you’re sure to enjoy a tour through the Colorado State Capital. The capital building boasts a distinct gold dome roof, built in the late 1800 and designed to resemble the nation’s capital. Inside, you can take a guided tour and learn about the state’s history and current government affairs while also watching legislators in action!

The Denver Zoo

To see one of the widest selections of animals in the country, be sure to visit the Denver Zoo! Sitting on over 80 acres, the Denver Zoo was one of the first in the country to showcase natural animal exhibits rather than animals sitting in cages with bars. Be sure to visit Primate Panorama, with mesh tents and open areas for apes and monkeys. Their elephant passage is also not to be missed, as is their predator display that purposely rotates animals in the area to mix their scents and create the healthiest environmental setting.
